Q:  What population supports a successful Laser-Blast installation?

A: Generally – we recommend a population of about 100,000 within a 15 -20 minute drive.  We offer demographic mapping to support this.  Laser-Blast has almost 90% success in helping our users succeed over the first 5 years with our 10 year average holding close to the same.  Pretty good success numbers when compared to the competition.

Q:  Who are the typical Laser-Blast customers?

A: While our games are suitable for almost every age and gender, historically we have seen a huge growth in party hosting tied to the Laser-Blast attraction.  Birthday parties are a huge draw as are tournaments and youth group mentoring.  Basically – the more creative in your marketing and outreach – the better.  We can help with collateral marketing ideas and shared success stories.

Internationally the market is mostly teens and young adults.

Q:  How much money can I make?

A: How hard do you want to work and how creative can you be?  We find that thought and care in layout; maze design, hosting services, and POS usage provide superior results.  Laser-Blast equipment keeps downtime in check and allows you to spend more time managing your business and in outreach to bring groups and individual customers in.  When you deliver fun and value, growth almost takes care of itself.

Q:  How big of a building do I need?

A: While it is generally true that the larger the better – we have successful companies with 1000 sq. ft and up. We recommend 125-150 sq. ft. per vest for an average arena size.

Q: What issues do I need to consider when designing and building the Laser-Blast arena?

A: We recommend that you establish good relations with local authorities having jurisdiction for fire and building codes.  While we recommend certified architects for major projects many facilities are built based upon the experiences and design capabilities of our Theming department. Laser-Blast has several stock designs that can be used or modified to meet your needs and expectations. We can provide the construction requirements and installation teams to build to your specifications. At Laser-Blast we are focused upon your success and our track record of success is unequalled.

Q:  Why do some laser tag centers fail?

A: We have very little experience in this with our customers.  However, based upon the data by ILTA, there is a pretty dramatic fall off within 5 years of opening for our competitors. I know we are biased, but it is your money – if you think 50% is better than 90% - please continue to pursue anything BUT Laser-Blast. With our success rate – if you really feel there is a better option – go for it.  We work with our customers closely and expect that those who take success seriously will take advantage of our experience and genuine interest in their success.  Good people make all the difference. Having the best tools in your work is something that craftsmen always appreciate.  But it is the craftsman more than the tool that is the difference.

Q:  How do I design an arena?

A: We recommend that you work closely with us in determining space and ceiling heights for your attraction. Single level or multi level arena? Budget is a big factor – and bigger is usually better – but not always.  Providing a design that people can have fun in is the key  - and often one starts with an idea and can execute it locally for less money.  We can offer support in arena design from generic successful designs to customized one-off designs with themes and special focal pieces and paint schemes. Also - who is your competition in the general area?  Having a bigger and better arena is always recommended. Multi-level arenas have seen a tremendous growth in popularity as well – so height is as important as length and width. We feel it is always better to have a successful arena that appeals to your customers so that return play is maximized.  Since Laser-Blast equipment is so reliable and designs are always backwards compatible – we find the companies that start small with our equipment seem to add more quickly to accommodate their growing party size.  Our goal – your success first – your growth second.

Q:  Are your lasers safe?

A: Yes. Our laser beam cannot stay on indefinitely, preventing eye injuries. Our products comply with all FDA regulations regarding laser safety.

Q: Is IR tagging technology obsolete?

A:  The short answer is no, IR tagging still provides the best coverage angles. For a detailed answer, please view our Technology Choices page.

Q:  Why do you use NiMH(nickel-metal-hydride) batteries?

A: Nimh batteries have a low internal resistance of 100 milliohms, while Lithium batteries begin at 300 milliohms.  Also, large lithium batteries are a safety risk .  Another reason that we prefer our swappable 3800 mah battery packs is downtime prevention.  With some other systems, if a battery malfunctions and cannot charge properly, that vest is unusable until you reach the manufacturer’s support staff, and wait for a replacement in the mail(Lithium batteries are highly restricted for air travel).  With our battery packs, you would just swap a battery out, and continue running games at full capacity.

Q: What is a poll time, and how does it affect your system?

A:  Poll time is the time in between radio contacts from the computer to the vests. A low poll time is desireable, because your scores will update faster on lobby monitors, and in the phaser.
The drawback to faster poll times, however, is that radio stability is lost at some point. This is because as the poll time approaches zero seconds, the number of radio waves becomes too great, and the radios become confused with too many waves bouncing around.
Our poll time is 3/4 of a second, which allows for fast score updates, without risking stability.
However, there will not be a 3/4 second gap between when you tag someone and when their vest is deactivated. Our vests take approximately 12 thousandths of a second to register being tagged.

Q:  What makes Laser-Blast so good?

A: It is our secret sauce…..we live, breathe, and dream laser tag.  We engineer our products to perform in the demanding environment that they are subjected to.  They are designed so that the game play is fun and rewarding of skill.  Our sensor array provides complete coverage from all sides and the reporting radio mechanism provides quick feedback and scoring info.  Vests are suitable for pretty much all ages and sizes so that the experience covers all potential players equally.  The light weight vests are not a burden for the young and the two handed sensor provides for a more safe experience for all players.  Our components are made in the USA by the same suppliers that have contracts with DOD and NASA for similar components used in everything from the space shuttle and advanced fighter jets to Abrams tanks.  These components are tested to exceed the capabilities of all imported competitors and are designed and tested for reliability and hardness. Our software is robust and constantly being upgraded for even better experiences and all updates are free of charge and backwards compatible. Our battery technology and charging capabilities are under constant review so that the best value is provided.  We are constantly searching for incremental improvements to all systems in the units and in how they are manufactured. There is not an equal to Laser-Blast – although many claim to be.  We are relentless in remaining the best value in the market.
