The following peripherals are currently available. New ones are always in development.
The basic base peripheral consists of a sensor and an IR transmitter. The object of the game is to tag the enemy's base. In order to do this, you must fire your phaser at the base 3 times, separated by at least 5 seconds, but no more than 15 seconds. If you do this, several things happen:
1. The base emits an IR signal that is picked up by your vest.
2. A 10 amp relay switch closes, allowing the arena operator to plug in any type of special effect desired, such as strobes, police beacons, sirens, fog machines, etc. This relay stays closed for 7 seconds and then the base resets.
Bases come in red, green, or blue. Three colored LED's let you know how many more times you have to hit the base before you destroy it.
The standard base will not allow the same person to destroy it twice in a row. This adds a little challenge to the game and requires you to work in teams.
The standard base requires a 110 Volt AC outlet.
This special base contains all three colors of LED's, as well as 4 switched relay outputs. It functions similar to a regular base, except it keeps track of which team "Owns" the base. A team gains ownership of the base when one of the team members tags the base three times. When this happens, the relay contact assigned to that team is closed, as well as the relay contact for other special effects.
The Prime Base keeps track of how long each team owns the base and reports it to the score computer at the end of the game. The control computer software assigns points to the team for each second that the team owned the base.
This device allows a player to set a trap for unsuspecting players who may enter the area. This is what happens:
1. A player uses a photon to "Set" the MegaBlaster. A police beacon attached to the relay contact will flash a brief acknowledgement for 1 second.
2. The Megablaster blinks its LED for seven seconds while the person who set the trap gets away from the area.
3. The Megablaster then turns on the police beacon and begins firing a wide angle infrared signal that tags anybody within 15 feet of the Megablaster. The MegaBlaster sends out the signal of the person who originally set it, thus giving them credit for tagging the person. This continues for 15 seconds. The Megablaster then resets.
Our Interactive Bases include 11 digital sound effects and a network interface. This gives the bases the capability to:
Select and download "WAV" files to the Interactive Bases
Change the way the base works for different levels of play
Put out random "taunts" (user selectable) during the game
Change the length of time the 10 Amp relay stays on for foggers, strobes, or other special effects.
